Petrobras triple son bénéfice en 2025 et enregistre une production record

Le géant pétrolier public brésilien Petrobras a annoncé jeudi avoir triplé son bénéfice net en 2025 par rapport à l'année précédente, grâce à une production record de pétrole et de gaz.

Petrobras a réalisé l'an dernier un bénéfice net de 110,1 milliards de reais (18 milliards d'euros), contre 36,6 milliards en 2024.

"L'année 2025 a été extraordinaire en termes de production. L'augmentation des volumes de pétrole et de gaz nous a permis (...) d'atteindre des résultats financiers solides", s'est félicitée la présidente de l'entreprise, Magda Chambriard, citée dans un communiqué officiel.

Petrobras a augmenté de 11% sa production totale de pétrole et de gaz l'an dernier.

L'appréciation du real face au dollar a constitué un autre facteur ayant contribué à ces résultats, selon la compagnie.

La performance de 2025 représente un net redressement par rapport à l'année précédente, lorsque Petrobras avait traversé une période marquée par des pertes de change et par la volatilité du marché mondial du pétrole.

Ces derniers jours, la guerre au Moyen-Orient a fait flamber les prix du brut, ce qui pourrait favoriser ses exportations.

Néanmoins, le géant brésilien pourrait également être affecté par cette tendance haussière, puisqu'il importe du diesel pour répondre à la demande intérieure de la première économie latino‑américaine.

La société prévoit d'étendre ce qu'elle appelle ses "frontières d'exploration" avec un mégaprojet dans une vaste région maritime nommée Marge Equatoriale, proche des côtes de l'Amazonie.

Après des années de discussions, Petrobras a reçu en octobre une licence de l'autorité publique de l'environnement pour commencer les forages dans la zone, malgré les critiques des écologistes.

Le président de gauche Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva a promu le projet en faisant valoir que l'argent du pétrole était nécessaire pour financer la transition énergétique.

Parallèlement, le chef de l'Etat a défendu en novembre, lors de la conférence climatique COP30 qui s'est tenu dans la ville amazonienne de Belém, l'idée que le monde se dote d'une "feuille de route" pour sortir des énergies fossiles.

Petrobras announces new pre-salt oil discovery in Marlim Sul

Petrobras has announced a new oil discovery in the Marlim Sul field in the pre-salt layer of the Campos Basin off the coast of Brazil.

According to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the find was made through an exploration well, 3-BRSA-1397-RJS. The well was drilled 113km offshore from Campos dos Goytacazes in Rio de Janeiro at a water depth of 1,178m.

Identification of the oil-bearing interval was based on wireline logs, hydrocarbon shows and fluid sampling.

These samples will undergo laboratory analysis to evaluate the characteristics of the discovered reservoirs and fluids, facilitating further assessment of the area’s potential.

The Marlim Sul field has been under Petrobras’ operation since its discovery in November 1987 via well 4-RJS-382.

Petrobras, which has full ownership of the field, reported that drilling operations related to 3-BRSA-1397-RJS concluded safely, following health, safety and environmental standards.
Located approximately 36km from the coastline, the Copoazu-1 well is situated at a water depth of 964m and is positioned 8km from both the Sirius-1 discovery and the Sirius-2 appraisal wells.

Drilling operations at Copoazu-1 commenced in November 2025 and are proceeding safely, with due consideration for environmental and human factors.

In recent years, oil has emerged as Brazil’s leading export, with the country benefitting from higher global oil prices, according to a GlobalData TS Lombard report authored by Elizabeth Johnson.

Brazil’s investment in oil and gas production has made it less vulnerable to prevailing oil shocks, even as it pursues renewable energy leadership.

Since becoming a net exporter in 2006, Brazil remains dependent on international markets for refined products, particularly diesel, due to insufficient refining capacity.

Despite increased domestic output, diesel imports rose by almost 20% to 17.3 billion litres last year.
Petrobras is working in the Campos Basin to replace reserves in an aging, long-producing region, supporting the company’s long-term viability and helping meet Brazil’s energy needs as the country broadens its energy mix.

Prior to this, Petrobras announced a new gas discovery at the Copoazu-1 exploratory well in Block GUA-OFF-O in Colombia’s deep offshore waters. This find strengthens both the gas province and the potential for gas resources offshore Colombia, contributing to regional energy security with increased gas reserves.

Petrobras starts oil output at Búzios 8 via P-79 FPSO

Petrobras has started oil production at the Búzios 8 project via the P-79 floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO)-type unit in the Búzios field, situated in the pre-salt layer of the Brazil’s Santos Basin.

The start-up comes earlier than planned in the company’s Business Plan for 2026–2030.

P-79, which arrived in Brazil from South Korea in February this year, is the eighth production platform to operate in the Búzios field. The FPSO is capable of processing 180,000 barrels (bbl) of oil and compressing 7.2 million cubic metres (mcm) of gas each day.

The addition raises Búzios field’s total installed oil production capacity to about 1.33 million barrels per day (mbbl/d).

The Búzios 8 project is also expected to enhance Brazil’s gas supply by up to 3mcm daily through an interconnection with the ROTA 3 gas pipeline.

The P-79 FPSO arrived at its destination carrying commissioning and operations teams. According to Petrobras, this transit removed the need for a stop in sheltered Brazilian waters and contributed to improvements in safety, reliability and operational readiness by enabling system commissioning to advance while en route.

The FPSO’s design aims to enhance operational efficiency and reduce emissions.

As part of the Búzios 8 Production Development project, the platform is linked to 14 wells. The development includes eight producers and six injectors, each featuring intelligent completion systems for optimised production control.

The unit will use rigid pipelines for production, injection, and gas export, while flexible pipelines are designated for service lines, supporting the planned high-capacity production from the field’s wells.

Discovered in 2010, the Búzios field is located 180km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro in the ultra-deep waters of more than 2,000m. It is said to be the world’s largest deep-water pre-salt oilfield.

The field is operated by a consortium that includes Petrobras as the operator, with CNOOC and CNODC as Chinese partners. PPSA oversees the management of production-sharing agreements within the consortium.

Last year, Búzios surpassed an output of 1mbbl/d.

Existing operations at Búzios apart from the new vessel include FPSOs P-74, P-75, P-76, P-77, Almirante Barroso, Almirante Tamandaré, and P-78, which began operating in December 2025.

Additional FPSOs, encompassing P-80, P-82, and P-83, are under construction, and a contract for Búzios 12 is under consideration.

When all units are completed, the field will have 12 FPSOs in total.

In January 2026, Petrobras and its partners initiated oil production at the Búzios 6 project via the P-78 FPSO unit in the Búzios field.

Petrobras: baisse du bénéfice net au premier trimestre 2026

Le géant brésilien de l'énergie Petrobras a annoncé lundi une baisse de ses bénéfices au troisième trimestre 2026 par rapport à la même période l'an dernier, malgré une production élevée et la flambée des cours du pétrole.

Le bénéfice net de la compagnie pétrolière publique brésilienne s'est élevé à 32,7 milliards de reais (5,7 milliards d'euros) entre janvier et mars, soit une baisse de 7,2% par rapport aux 35,2 milliards de reais enregistrés au cours de la même période en 2025.

Ce résultat est toutefois supérieur aux attentes du marché, selon des médias brésiliens.

Le chiffre d'affaires net s'est élevé à 123,7 milliards de reais (21,3 milliards d'euros) au cours du trimestre, soit une légère hausse de 0,4 % par rapport à l'année précédente.

Ces résultats interviennent dans un contexte de production accrue de pétrole et de gaz au Brésil et de prix élevés des carburants, conséquences du conflit qui a éclaté au Moyen-Orient en février.

L'entreprise a toutefois indiqué dans un communiqué que ces facteurs "ne s'étaient pas reflétés" dans son chiffre d'affaires des trois premiers mois de l'année.

"Nous avons réalisé des résultats financiers solides au premier trimestre 2026", a déclaré le directeur financier, Fernando Melgarejo, cité dans le communiqué.

"Nos investissements se traduisent par une croissance de la production de pétrole et de dérivés", a-t-il ajouté.
