According to Public Relations and International Affairs of Kish Free Zone Organization, Eng. AbdoRahman Nadimi Boushehri said: Kish Island enjoying the capability to do premium economic, tourism and services activities can be considered as an appropriate link for interacting domestic and international economies. Therefore; construction of infrastructures and expansion of financial activities in the field of capital market are among the chapter headings of programs set by this organization and the required grounds for their execution have been prepared. He added: Presently, most of the major international oil companies in order to utilize the facilities of this Zone and its proximity to the exploration and exploitation fields of gas and oil have moved their offices to Kish Island and already a considerable portion of logistic services for their activities in South Pars (Assaluyeh) fields are taking place on Kish Island. TEHRAN: Establishment of an oil stock market in the Persian Gulf island of Kish would play a significant role in improving interactions with the global economy, said deputy head of Kish Free Zone Organization (KFZO), Abdolrahman Nadimi.
He noted that Kish has suitable potential for economic, tourism and service activities, therefore building infrastructural facilities and developing financial undertakings in the island's monetary and capital markets are the top priorities of the KFZO, reported the Persian daily Donya-e Eqtesad.
The official stated that with the launching of a stock exchange and the establishment of a number of foreign banks branches in Kish, an international oil-gas and petrochemical bourse would significantly help develop the island's economy and transform Iran into an active country in the field of international oil transactions.
Nadimi pointed to the strategic location of Kish in the Persian Gulf, which holds 65 percent of the world's energy reserves, adding the island is an important base for companies involved in oil and gas projects.
"A large number of giant oil companies have transferred their offices to Kish Island which is located close to oil exploration and drilling regions.At present a major part of the logistic activities of South Pars gas field (Asalouyeh) are being conducted from Kish Island.
A senior hydrocarbon industry official recently confirmed reports that a giant gas field has been discovered off the Persian Gulf island of Kish.
Seyyed Mahmoud Mohaddes said it is unlikely that the field will have more gas than South Pars.
Iran's Bourse Council has given the go ahead for the establishment of the first oil, gas and petrochemical stock market of Iran in Kish Island on July 2005.

Kish, Hormuzgan province - About dlrs 3.5 billion investment has been made in southern kish Island in few years up to end of the current Iranian calendar year of 1383 (to end on March 20).
The Public Relations and International Affairs Department at kish Free Trade Zone reports that private sector's investment has been about nine times higher than that of the public sector.
There are about 60 hotels with 9,000 beds hosting Iranian and foreign tourists in kish Island. kish Island is one of the most beautiful islands in the Persian Gulf, receiving about one million Iranian and more than 100,000 foreign tourists a year.
