Importante découverte de pétrole par Petrobras

La société pétrolière étatique brésilienne a trouvé une colonne majeure de 400 mètres de pétrole en eaux ultra-profondes dans le bassin de Santos, à 230 km de Sao Paulo.

Petrobras a découvert dans la nuit du 13 au 14 août du pétrole en quantités abondantes et de bonne qualité. Dans le détail, cette découverte avait été révélée en mars. Mais depuis le forage a continué et a permis de déterminer l’épaisseur totale des réservoirs recelant le pétrole. Il a aussi permis de confirmer l’existence de zones intéressantes en profondeur.

Une colonne de 400 mètres de pétrole a ainsi été découverte. "De nouveaux échantillons de pétrole ont été prélevés jusqu'à une profondeur de 6.131 mètres qui ont confirmé la bonne qualité du pétrole approximativement de 31º API (soit une densité moyenne). Le puits a également permis de s'assurer que les réservoirs bénéficient d'une excellente porosité et perméabilité", a ajouté l'entreprise brésilienne.

Le puits 4-SPS-86B, situé sur le bloc BM-S-8, est exploité par un consortium réunissant Petrobras (66%), Petrogal Brasil (14%), Barra Energia do Brasil Petróleo e Gás Ltda. (10%) et Queiroz Galvão Exploração e Produção S.A. (10%).

Cette annonce fait suite à la découverte en 2006 d’importantes réserves de pétrole à 6 km de profondeur au large des côtes.

Petrobras et le gouvernement brésilien qui est son actionnaire majoritaire mettent la main à la poche pour accélérer l’exploitation et la production de la couche présalifère. L’objectif fixé est de doubler la production pétrolière en 2020. Elle passerait alors de 2 millions de barils par jour à 4,2 millions.

Les réserves prouvées de pétrole de Petrobras s'élevaient à 16,412 milliards de barils équivalent pétrole fin 2011.

Petrobras to Invest $45 Billion in 2012

RIO DE JANEIRO - Brazilian state-run energy giant Petroleo Brasileiro, or Petrobras, expects to spend $45 billion on capital investments in 2012, Chief Executive Maria das Gracas Foster said Monday.

The total would be more than the approximately $40 billion spent in 2011, Ms. Foster said during an event.

In June, Petrobras unveiled a $237 billion investment plan through 2016.

La branche renouvelable du groupe Alstom a annoncé avoir signé une lettre d'intention avec l'un des principaux développeurs brésiliens sur le marché de l'électricité d'origine éolienne, pour équiper des fermes dans l'état de Rio Grande do Norte (nord-est du Brésil).

D'une valeur d'environ 230 millions d'euros, le projet initié par Casa dos Ventos, porte notamment sur la livraison de 68 éoliennes ECO 122 destinées à des fermes éoliennes situées dans la région de João Câmara. Il représente une capacité de production de plus de 180 MW. Alstom précise que le contrat devrait être signé d'ici la fin du mois de septembre.

Par ailleurs, les éoliennes seront fabriquées dans l'usine d'Alstom Renewable Power située à Camaçari, dans l'état de Bahia, ouverte en novembre 2011. Cette nouvelle usine a une capacité de production de 300 MW par an avec une équipe, capacité qui sera doublée au second semestre 2013 avec une seconde équipe.

Petrobras Declares Two Campos Basin Oil Fields Commercial

RIO DE JANEIRO - Brazil's Petroleo Brasileiro SA said Thursday it declared two offshore oil fields in the Campos Basin holding an estimated 350 million barrels of oil commercially viable.

Petrobras, as the state-run energy giant is more commonly known, said the Aruana and Oliva fields would be renamed Tartaruga Verde and Tartaruga Mestica, respectively. Tartaruga Verde holds an estimated 230 million barrels of oil equivalent, or BOE, while Tartaruga Mestica has 121 million BOE.

The two fields, however, are unlikely to help Petrobras shake off its recent production troubles. Tartaruga Verde and Tartaruga Mestica aren't expected to start producing crude oil until 2017, with initial development part of the company's $237 billion investment plan for the 2012-2016 period, Petrobras said.

Brazil's subsalt natural gas could be as expensive to produce as $9/MMBtu when it starts flowing in sizeable quantities, a leading oil industry executive said Tuesday.

"It is gas that is difficult to produce, a long way from consumer centers, that needs treatment," said Roberto Ramos, CEO of Odebrecht Oil & Gas, the service company arm of Brazilian construction and engineering giant Odebrecht.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Rio Gas Forum conference, Ramos said that with oil and gas fields situated up to 300 kilometers (186 miles) from the Brazilian coast, transport costs will be high, and much of the gas would either be reinjected or used to power subsalt platforms.

"As the volumes are very big, the gas processing installations, the gas breakers and compressors, will be enormous. But only half of the gas will be made available," Ramos said. "The other half has to be re-injected and consumed by the platform. The CAPEX of the gas processing units is very high and only half of this gas will be sold."

While $9/MMBtu is a high production price, Brazil has at times recently paid double that for imported gas. The country went through a severe drought late last year that cut into hydropower output, which normally provides more than 80% of the country's power. To fuel gas-fired power generators, Brazil has paid as much as $18/MMBtu for gas imported as LNG, a price level needed in order to compete with demand from Japan, according to market sources.

Brazil's state-run energy giant Petrobras will aim to triple oil production from its huge deep-water fields by 2017.

By that date, the company plans to extract 962,500 barrels a day, more than three times the current 300,000, according to the management and business plan released to investors on Tuesday.

'The company's top priority is exploration and production,' Petrobas president Graca Foster told reporters.

'We need to drill for oil' to obtain the 'exceptional results' expected in 2017: 3.4 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, including crude oil and natural gas production, he said.

That's 'one million more than what we had in 2012'.

Excluding natural gas, crude oil output in 2017 would be 2.75 million barrels a day, up from 1.98 million in 2012.

Foster on Sunday told TV Brazil that by 2020, production would reach 4.2 million bpd and that 52 per cent would come from the so-called pre-salt reserves, located at a depth of 6000 meters under a thick layer of salt off southeastern Brazil.

Last year, the country produced an average of 1.9 million bpd.

Output from the pre-salt reserves, discovered in 2007 off southeastern Brazil and estimated to hold up to 100 billion barrels of crude, reached a record 214,000 bpd on December 27.

This represents only seven per cent of the average annual crude output in Brazil.

To reach its 2017 production target, Petrobras will invest $US147 billion ($A142.49 billion) in exploration and production, or 62 per cent of the total $US236.7 billion called for in the five-year plan

Brazilian oil company Petrobras is to auction off its stakes in Nigerian oil fields to raise cash for domestic projects, a deal that may fetch up to $5 billion, sources close to the deal said.

Une méga commande de 440 éoliennes pour Alstom au Brésil

La branche renouvelable d'Alstom a annoncé la semaine dernière avoir signé un premier contrat d'une valeur de 450 millions d'euros, avec Renova Energia, pour équiper l'un des plus importants champs éoliens terrestres au monde.

Ces parcs éoliens basés dans l'état de Bahia représenteront une capacité de 513 MW sur les 1.200 MW selon un accord cadre conclu et annoncé en février 2013. La livraison des équipements devraient intervenir dès 2015.

"Il s'agit du tout premier contrat dans le cadre des projets représentant plus d'un milliard d'euros. Au total, ces projets permettront de fournir au minimum 1,2 GW d'électricité, et de doubler ainsi la production actuelle d'électricité éolienne du Brésil", a déclaré Jérôme Pécresse, Président d'Alstom Renewable Power.

L'accord signé en février comprend la fourniture, l'exploitation et la maintenance d'environ 440 éoliennes terrestres au Brésil. Ces machines seront fabriquées dans l'usine d'Alstom située à Camaçari dans l’État de Bahia. Alstom s'est engagé à établir, en partenariat avec d'autres entreprises, une filière industrielle éolienne à Bahia pour la production des principaux composants d’éoliennes.

La gamme d’éoliennes terrestres ECO100 d'Alstom est composée des éoliennes, ECO122, ECO110 et ECO100, avec une capacité unitaire de 2,7 à 3 MW.

Petrobras Sees 2014 Crude Oil Production 'Significantly Higher'

Brazilian state-run oil company Petroleo Brasileiro, or Petrobras, expects crude oil production to surge in 2014 as the company ramps up output on seven new production platforms that will be installed this year, the company's exploration director said Monday.

"Production in 2014 will be significantly higher than what we have been doing in 2013 and 2012," said Jose Miranda Formigli, Petrobras's exploration and production director, said during a conference call with analysts.

Petrobras reported a 4% decline in crude oil output in the first quarter compared with the fourth quarter of 2012, primarily because of ongoing maintenance shutdowns at aging offshore platforms. Petrobras expects output to remain stable for a third-consecutive year in 2013 at about 2 million barrels per day.

But the company has already installed two new platforms, with a third expected to start production by the end of May. An additional four platforms will follow throughout the rest of 2013. Petrobras plans to add more than 50 production wells at offshore platforms this year, Mr. Formigli said.

"All the benefits of these systems that have been installed we will get next year," Mr. Formigli said.
