Le grouvernement va verser 10 $ à 15 millions de pauvres pour les aider à supporter durant 3 mois la hausse des prix de l'essence.
Indonesia to compensate poor for higher fuel prices
JAKARTA: Indonesia will pay a subsidy of 100,000 rupiah (9.94 dollars) to millions of poor households to help compensate them for a fuel price increase, ministers confirmed on Tuesday.
Information Minister Sofyan Djalil said the scheme was aimed at cushioning the impact of an impending fuel price increase on 60 million Indonesians living in 15.5 million households considered as poor.
Sri Mulyani, who heads the National Development Planning Agency, said the payments would not meet all the poor’s needs but would help offset the higher cost of fuel, which they mainly use in the form of kerosene for cooking.
Faced with a slumping currency because of soaring world oil prices, Indonesia decided last month to raise the prices of the heavily-subsidised kerosene and automotive fuels.
The government is at risk of overshooting its budget deficit because of the soaring fuel subsidies which President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has said could cost 138.6 trillion rupiah (13.7 billion dollars) this year, or almost double the previous forecast of 76.5 trillion.
