Moins bonne performance depuis 2006.

Brazil ethanol exports up in December, 2014 total lowest since 2006

in Freight News 06/01/2015

Brazil’s ethanol exports in December totaled 132.9 million liters, a stronger volume than anticipated by the market, according to data released by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade.

There were a few volumes sent to the US at the beginning of December due to a surge in US values in late November. Additionally, the plummeting Real-to-dollar exchange rate pushed FOB values lower over the month of December, triggering more business to be booked, particularly Grade B material to Southeast Asia.
The detailed destinations of December exports should be released next week by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade.

The December export figure is 44.5% higher than November and 38% higher compared with the same month in 2013, only the third time in 2014 that monthly exports were higher compared with the year-ago month.
Overall, 2014 exports were 47% lower than 2013 at 1.39 billion liters, the lowest since 2006 when Kingsman, the agricultural analysis unit of Platts, began tracking the data.

Among the reasons for the much weaker ethanol exports in 2014 were lower ethanol prices in the US amid a record corn crop which kept the arbitrage window closed for anhydrous imports from Brazil.
Furthermore, due to the intense drought that has hit cane-growing areas in the Center-South in the 2014-15 season — the largest producer and consuming region of the country — the main focus of producers was on hydrous ethanol for domestic consumption.

Looming concerns with cane availability kept ex-mill prices of hydrous and anhydrous ethanol higher for most of the 2014-15 season when compared with the previous crop.

Brazil's ethanol production grows 6% in 2015

May 11, 2016 16:08 CEST

May 11 (SeeNews) - Brazil's ethanol production grew 6% in 2015, reaching 30 billion litres (8 billion gallons), state-owned energy research firm EPE said on Tuesday.

According to the 2015 Biofuels Sector Analysis study conducted by EPE, the main contributing factors were the good harvest season and the new government measures taken last year, such as the elevation of the anhydrous ethanol blending requirement for common gasoline.

Other biofuel highlights of 2015 include the significant growth of 34% of hydrous ethanol demand, reaching 19 billion liters, and a 7% drop in regular gas consumption. As regards to biodiesel, the country produced about 3.9 billion litres, 15% more than in 2014, noted EPE in its study.

Also in 2015, Brazil's sugarcane industry provided more than 20,000 GWh of biomass power for the National Interconnected System (SIN), local sugarcane industry association Unica said back in April.

Record-high ethanol production expected in Brazil

April 23, 2019

Ethanol production in Brazil in 2018/2019 crop is expected to reach 33.58 billion liters, a 23.3% increase, up by 6.3 billion litters over 2017/2018 crop. Data was released this Tuesday (23) by the Brazilian National Company of Supply (CONAB, acronym in Portuguese) and points to a new record-high, surpassing the last index of 30.5 billion liters in 2015/2016 crop.

This ethanol production increase results mainly from the sugar price drop in the international market and a more favorable scenario for the ethanol fuel in the domestic market, thanks to the dollar and oil hike, according to CONAB. These factors caused more production units to increase allocation of sugar cane for ethanol production.

The cane crop reached 625.2 million tons, showing a 1.3% decreased over the last one, which was 633.26 million tons. The sugar production reached 31.35 million tons, a 17.2% decrease, down by 6.5 million tons, compared to the last crop. The harvested area stood at 8.59 million hectares, representing a 1.6% reduction compared to 2017/2018.

Brazil's BSBios to pour USD 108m into new ethanol plant

June 22 (Renewables Now)

Brazilian biodiesel plant operator BSBios will invest a total of BRL 556 million (USD 107.8m/EUR 102.2m) to build an ethanol production facility in Rio Grande do Sul, the state government announced this week.

An agreement signed between state officials and company representatives envisages an initial investment of BRL 316 million.

The project will be developed in two phases, the first of which is designed with an annual production capacity of 111 million litres of ethanol and is scheduled for completion by 2024. The second stage will expand the capacity of the plant to 220 million litres in 2027.

In addition to the production of hydrous and anhydrous ethanol, the facility will also make bran. BSBios will use cereals such as corn, wheat, triticale, rice, and sorghum, as primary sources.

At present, Rio Grande do Sul produces less than 1% of its ethanol demand. Once the new plant is in full swing, it should supply over 23% of the state’s needs.

Brazil's corn-based ethanol supply grows as firms add capacity -trade group

March 07, 2023 SAO PAULO (Reuters)

Brazil will produce six billion liters of corn ethanol in the 2023/2024 season that begins in April, an increase of 36.7% over last season, trade group Unem said on Tuesday.

The data confirms that Brazilian corn ethanol production, even in the face of an economic downturn during the pandemic and competition from the sugar-based alternative, grew and will continue to expand as society demands cleaner fuel alternatives.

According to Unem, corn ethanol is expected to account for 19% of all ethanol consumed in the country next season up from 13.7% in the current season.

In the current harvest ending this month, sugarcane ethanol production should reach 27 billion liters, Unem said in a statement.
