Equinor et BP annulent le contrat pour le parc éolien en mer Empire wind 2 aux États-Unis
Après avoir tenté de renégocier sans succès avec l’État de New York le contrat de rachat de l’électricité pour le parc éolien en mer Empire wind 2, Equinor et BP ont décidé d’y mettre fin mais espèrent le relancer.

Le projet de parc éolien en mer Empire wind 2 prévu pour alimenter New York en électricité renouvelable ne se fera pas. Du moins dans les conditions arrêtées en 2021. Equinor et BP ont annoncé, le 3 janvier, un accord avec l’Agence de développement de l’énergie et de la recherche de l’État de New York (Nyserda) pour mettre fin au contrat de rachat de l’électricité de ce parc de 1 260 MW obtenu cette année-là. Avangrid, CIP announce first power from Vineyard Wind 1 Project

Developers complete early-stage commissioning work to deliver first ever power from offshore wind to Massachusetts

Avangrid, Inc. (NYSE: AGR), a leading sustainable energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), a global leader in greenfield renewable energy investments, today announced that power from the Vineyard Wind project was delivered to the New England grid for the first time. As part of the initial commissioning process, at 11:52PM on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, one turbine delivered approximately five megawatts of power, with additional testing expected to happen both on and offshore in the coming weeks. The project expects to have five turbines operating at full capacity early in 2024.

“This is a historic moment for the American offshore wind industry,” said Governor Maura Healey. “Soon, Vineyard Wind will be producing power equivalent of over 400,000 Massachusetts households. This is clean, affordable energy made possible by the many advocates, public servants, union workers, and business leaders who worked for decades to accomplish this achievement. Power from the projects interconnects to the New England grid in Barnstable, transmitted by underground cables that connect to a substation further inland on Cape Cod. Once completed, the project will consist of 62 wind turbines to generate 806 Megawatts, enough to power more than 400,000 homes and businesses in Massachusetts.

Vineyard Wind 1 is jointly owned by Avangrid and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners through its flagship fund, CI II and III. The project is being developed and constructed by Avangrid and Vineyard Offshore, CIP’s affiliate development company working on U.S. offshore projects. In August 2022, Avangrid signed an agreement to assume responsibility as the operations and maintenance services provider for Vineyard Wind 1 once the project achieves commercial operations.

New Jersey awards contracts for 3.7GW offshore wind projects

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) has awarded contracts for two offshore wind projects with a combined capacity of 3.7GW in the American state.

Under the third offshore wind solicitation, the board has awarded 2.4GW of capacity to Invenergy and energyRE’s Leading Light Wind project and 1.34GW to Attentive Energy’s Attentive Energy Two project.

Together, the Leading Light Wind and Attentive Energy Two offshore wind projects are projected to bring economic benefits worth $6.8bn to New Jersey.

The offshore wind facilities will generate enough clean energy to meet the power consumption needs of 1.8 million households.

Besides, the Leading Light Wind and Attentive Energy Two projects are expected to create over 27,000 direct, indirect, and induced full-time equivalent job years.

Through the approvals, NJBPU aims to advance New Jersey’s progress toward a 100% clean energy economy by the year 2035.

Construction on the Leading Light Wind project is scheduled for 2028, and the operations in the full lease area are estimated to start in 2032. The offshore wind farm is expected to mitigate carbon emissions by 4.1 million tons each year over its full life.

The bid to develop the Leading Light Wind offshore wind project was submitted to NJBPU by Invenergy and energyRe in August 2023.

The Attentive Energy Two offshore wind project is a joint venture (JV) between TotalEnergies and Corio Generation. It is anticipated to deliver clean energy to over 600,000 households.

Equinor reçoit l’aval de l’administration américaine pour son projet éolien au large de New York
Le bureau américain des énergies marines (Boem) a approuvé le plan de construction et d’exploitation pour les parcs éoliens en mer Empire wind 1 et 2 d’Equinor. L’énergéticien norvégien y voit le signal pour lancer la réalisation du premier projet de 816 MW dans le courant de l’année.

Le consortium propose de construire, dans l’ouest de Terre-Neuve, une usine productrice d’hydrogène et d’ammoniac, alimentée par plus de 300 éoliennes.(…)
Lorsque son projet fonctionnera à plein régime, World Energy devrait produire environ 210 000 tonnes d’hydrogène vert par an. L’hydrogène sera converti en 1,2 million de tonnes d’ammoniac, une substance plus dense et plus facile à transporter, pour être exporté en Europe.(…)

Ce qui est important avec les eoliennes et les enr en general c’est plus ce que ca permet de faire au niveau local que le poids au plan mondial dont tout le monde se contrefout!

Exporter quelques dizaines de milliers de tonnes d’hydrogene va surement booster les revenus de la region de facon importante, et c’est probablement ces perspectives de revenus qui ont motive les porteurs de projet

Les projets éoliens en mer Empire wind 1 et Sunrise wind remis en selle par l’État de New York
L’appel d’offres éolien en mer en procédure accélérée de l’État de New York a rendu son verdict. Les projets Empire wind 1 et Sunrise wind ont été sélectionnés. Ils pourraient commencer à produire en 2026.

Les deux projets de parcs portent sur une capacité totale d’un peu plus de 1 700 MW.

Les futurs parcs éoliens en mer Empire wind 1 d’Equinor et Sunrise wind d’Orsted sont de nouveau en piste pour alimenter les New Yorkais en électricité renouvelable. L’Agence de recherche et de développement de l’énergie de l’État (Nyserda) en a fait les lauréats à confirmer de son quatrième appel d’offres réalisé en procédure accélérée. Engie et EDP suppléent au retrait de Shell dans le projet éolien en mer américain Southcoast wind
Shell new energies, filiale de Shell, s’est retiré du projet éolien en mer Southcoast wind, au large de l’État américain du Massachusetts. Son partenaire Ocean winds, formé par Engie et EDP renovaveis, en a racheté les parts.

Ocean winds, la coentreprise formée par Engie et EDP renovaveis, se retrouve seule à la barre du projet éolien en mer Southcoast wind aux États-Unis. Shell, son partenaire à 50 % par l’intermédiaire de sa filiale Shell new energies, s’est désengagé. Ocean winds en a racheté la participation.

Le montant de la transaction n’est pas communiqué. La zone pour le projet avait été acquise en décembre 2018 par Shell et EDP aux termes d’enchères qui avaient atteint des records.... (abonnés)

Le premier jack-up américain pour l’éolien en mer a été mis à l’eau
Le « Charybdis », premier navire autoélévateur américain dédié au marché de l’éolien en mer, a touché l’eau à Brownsville au Texas. Dominion energy, son commanditaire, assure qu’il sera prêt à temps pour la réalisation de son parc au large de la Virginie.

Les États-Unis auront bientôt leur premier jack-up construit dans le pays et compatible avec le Jones act. Le navire de 145 mètres de long commandé par la compagnie américaine de distribution d’électricité et de gaz Dominion energy a été mis à l’eau, le 15 avril, au chantier naval de Seatrium, à Browsville, au Texas.

Largest offshore wind project in US history receives full federal environmental permitting approval

The $9.8 billion renewable energy project is expected to power up to 660,000 homes

The Permitting Council (Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council) is pleased to announce that Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind is the latest project to complete its required federal environmental permitting review and authorizations with permitting assistance from the Council. The $9.8 billion renewable energy project is expected to power up to 660,000 homes.

“Offshore wind energy is a cornerstone of the Permitting Council portfolio, representing nearly half of the projects currently receiving permitting assistance from our agency,” said Eric Beightel, Permitting Council Executive Director. “These final approvals for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project represent a significant milestone in our work, as it is the largest offshore wind energy project in U.S. history, helping to lead the way to a clean energy future nationwide.”

Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind is a 2.6 gigawatt offshore wind project that will consist of 176 wind turbines 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach. Expected to create 900 direct and indirect Virginia jobs annually during construction, project sponsors anticipate that it will avoid carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to removing more than 1 million cars off the road each year.

The project began receiving permitting assistance from the Permitting Council in February of 2021, reaching the conclusion of the process in just over three years. It now joins Empire Wind Energy, Revolution Wind Farm and South Fork Wind Farm as completed FAST-41 covered offshore wind projects.
