Production pétroliére en 2011 : 884,900 barrils par jour

Production gaziére en 2011 : 95 millions de m3 par jour
Oil and gas production increase in Oman

By Reuters 20 February 2012

Oman's average oil production rose to 884,900 barrels per day (bpd) in 2011, up 2.3 percent from 2010, an oil and gas ministry official said on Monday, but oil production by state-run Oman Petroleum Company (PDO) fell.
The sultanate's average gas production in 2011 also increased to 95.1 million cubic meters per day, up 4.4 percent from 2010, the under secretary for Oman's oil and gas ministry said.
"The increase was due new discoveries of oil and gas," Nasser Al-Jashmi told Reuters.
Despite a rise in total oil production, PDO's output fell from an average of 553,000 barrels per day of crude in 2010 to 549,280 bpd of oil in 2011.

The non-OPEC oil producer pumped an average of 864,600 bpd of oil in 2010.

Oman LNG is a LNG plant in Qalhat near Sur, Oman. The company was established by the Royal decree of Sultan Qaboos of Oman in 1994.[1] The construction was launched in November 1996, and the plant was commissioned in September 2000. The main shareholder is the Government of Oman (51%) in cooperation with Royal Dutch Shell (30%), Total S.A. (5.54%), Korea LNG (5%), Partex Oil & Gas (2%), Mitsubishi Corporation (2.77%), Mitsui & Co. (2.77%), and Itochu Corporation (0.92%).
The LNG plant is supplied from the gas gathering plant at Saih Rowl in the central Oman gas field complex through 360 kilometres (224 mi) long 48 inches (1,200 mm) pipeline with a capacity of 12 billion cubic meters per annum of gas, operated by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). The gas origins from Barik, Saih Nihayda and Saih Rawl gas fields.
The LNG plant consists two 3.3 mtpa liquefaction trains, which were constructed by Chiyoda-Foster Wheeler. The total construction costs were US$2 billion.

BP plans to invest $24b for developing Oman's gas fields

Muscat: British oil giant BP is expected to invest a whooping $24 billion for the first phase full-field development of its block 61 tight gas fields in north-central Oman.

"The initial upfront investment will be $24 billion,- said Shaikh Ali bin Thabit Al Battashi, Adviser to the Ministry of Oil and Gas, on the sidelines of a signing ceremony between the Ministry of Oil and Gas and Sohar International Urea and Chemical Industries.

He said the first phase of the development programme is spread over a 25 year-concession period and aimed at producing 6.7 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of natural gas, which is equivalent to one billion standard cubic feet of gas per day.

The first delivery of gas is expected by 2017, he said, adding, "Initially, the company will start with a lower production, which will eventually reach 1BCF by 2019.- If everything goes well, BP's gas exploration will help Oman -” which is short of gas for meeting demand from a host of industrial projects -” to achieve self-sufficiency in clean energy.
....................

Oman to sign pact with BP to develop oil fields

MUSCAT December 04, 2012

The Sultanate has made unprecedented progress in developing tight and acid gases since it dug the deepest well, more than 7km deep, in the Middle East in a bid to find non-traditional gas resources, according to a government official.

HE Nasser Bin Khamis Al Jashmi, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Oil and Gas, who was speaking at the opening session of the 8th Gas Arabia Summit, hailed the works undertaken by BP company and the progress made in developing the biggest two gas fields in the Sultanate, namely Khazzan and Makarim. The appraisal wells were dug out and long-term production tests were completed.

He said that an agreement could be reached between the government and BP to ensure comprehensive development of the two fields.

He said that as per the BP production plans, the output is expected to be about 1 billion cubic feet of gas per day. This will be equal to one third of the current gas production, thus ensuring sustainability of gas production in the long run.

Jashmi added that efforts made by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) company, Occidental, Oman Oil Exploration and Production company, Petronas and other companies have made good progress in exploring new gas reservoirs that complement the current reservoir.

The Sultanate, which focuses on developing gas-based industries, is always trying to provide local industries with gas once available, he said.

The gas companies are focusing on supplying to the existing industries in Sohar and other areas in the Sultanate where many major and important projects were set up.

A contract to supply gas to Al Duqm Industrial Area will be awarded to Oman Gas shortly as part of the government plans to develop industries in Al Duqm area, he added. The plan also included constructing a main oil refinery and petrochemicals complexes there. The industrial area will get gas by 2016, he added.

Replying to a question on reconsidering the Omani gas sale prices, he said that many contracts were signed with consumers when gas price was low. Despite this fact, the Ministry of Oil and Gas started negotiations with a number of local and international companies. The earlier prices have been already renewed that resulted in great revenues to the state.

Globally, gas contribution will be equal to other sources, such as oil and coal by 2030. As for the price of gas in the world markets, he said that gas prices witnessed a rise in 2011 in Japan, EU countries compared to a slight decline in North American countries.

Oman Approves BP's Khazzan Project

December 16, 2013

The government of Oman has approved a gas sales agreement and amended a production sharing agreement with BP for the development of the country's Khazzan field, the company reported Monday. The government approval signals that the project can now go-ahead.

BP said construction work for the Khazzan project will begin in 2014 with first gas expected in 2017 and a ramp-up to plateau production in 2018. The full field development will see a drilling program of some 300 wells over 15 years that will deliver peak production of one billion cubic feet of gas per day and 25,000 barrels per day of gas condensate. BP noted that this volume is equivalent to around one-third of Oman's total daily domestic gas supply.

BP Group Chief Executive Bob Dudley said in a company statement released Monday:

"We are very pleased to be going ahead with this major project, which is very important for both Oman and for BP. This enables BP to bring to Oman the experience it has built up in tight gas production over many decades. This is one more example of BP developing a long term gas supply chain, in this case to bring energy to customers in Oman for decades to come."

In a recent interview with Rigzone, Anand RV, BP's vice president of human resources for its Middle East exploration operations, explained that 5,000 workers and engineers will be needed to develop the project with 150 BP-trained Omani technicians used to run it in the long term.

"They will go through a very structured five-year induction and training program, which will include attending a training center in Oman that we have just set up," RV said.

GAS TO OUT-PRODUCE OIL IN OMAN

March 5, 2019

Oman’s gas production levels are set to surpass oil by 2023 thanks to an impressive surge in the development of gas fields in the sultanate, according to Rystad Energy.

“Gas is on the rise in Oman, and this transition is very timely. Oil output declines over the last two years may indicate a point of no return for Omani oil, but the country’s sliding oil production is set to be replaced by gas,” said Rystad Energy analyst Aditya Saraswat.

At peak production in 2016, Oman’s oil output reached 900,000 barrels per day (bpd), declining to 870,000 bpd by 2018. Rystad Energy, the independent energy research and consulting firm headquartered in Norway with offices across the globe, estimates that by 2025 oil production will decrease by an additional 200,000 bpd, as output from older fields continues to slump.

Image

As new oilfield developments have failed to stabilize the country’s crude output, Oman has shifted its focus to invest in gas developments. This will see gas production escalate to approximately 130 million cubic meters per day (MMcmd) by 2025, shifting Oman’s oil-gas production mix from about 35% gas in 2015 to over 50% in 2025.

“This is a tremendous turnaround from the near-stagnant 80 MMcmd of gas output from 2008 through 2016,” Saraswat remarked.

He added:

“Amidst rising global liquefied natural gas (LNG) demand and the increasingly lucrative domestic gas market, international players are favoring gas developments in Oman. The strengthened gas market will help gas production levels to outshine Oman’s dwindling oil production, with gas output projected to overtake oil by 2023.”
